Hero of the week.

Hero of the week this week if Rylee.

Rylee is really excited because she can take Jack home for the holidays. We can't wait to hear about Jack's adventures when we get back to school.
What values do you think our hero Rylee displays in class?

Eric Carle Inspired Collages

Eric Carle Inspired Sea Creatures

Room 5's author study this term has been Eric Carle. His book the Seahorse inspired us to create our own collage sea creatures.
We painted sheets of paper with bright colours. Then we added dots, spots and patterns to them.
Then we sketched our sea creature. We then tore up the painted paper into small pieces and collaged our sea creatures shape. We used a range of different colours and patterns. Once our creature was covered we put a coat of PVA glue on to seal it. Next  on a separate sheet of paper we used dye to create a background. Finally we glued our sea creature onto the background sheet.
We hope you like them. We think they look amazing!

Hero of the week.

Our hero this week is Izabella. Have a great week Izabella.
Our value this week is Respect let's see if we  can spot any of your classmates showing the value of Respect.

Jack had a great time at Laura's house this weekend. He was helping to look after the environment. He helped Laura's dad make a compost bin. Way to go Jack. How was Jack protecting his hearing?

Jack's Adventures

Peta and Kayla took Jack and Monkey to the Auckland Zoo.
What sort of animal is Monkey sitting on?

Brian's  Adventures

Hi my name is Brian and my little mate is Jack. I am called Brian Brainy Bear because I help the children in Room 5 with their thinking and give them ideas about how they can make sensible choices. As you can see I am a very old bear, nearly 12 years! I no longer go on weekend adventures with my classmates as Mrs Lockett says it tires me out too much. This is where Jack steps in. I have taught Jack everything I know about making sensible choices and about thinking for myself.
On a Friday Jack will go home with the "Hero of the Week". We want all of our classmates to know what Jack has been doing over the weekend so we have this special book which we write in about all the things we have done and places we have seen. I know you will want to keep Jack forever as he is a very well behaved bear and he doesn't eat much but Jack needs to go back to school on Monday with our story book.
